Aubrey Cara has brought us a fantastic, kinky, hot, intense menage story.

Ashley wakes up in a room she doesn't recognize and she's naked. She runs into an invisible electrical forcefield trying to escape and knocks herself out. She wakes up being talked down a hallway to a medical exam room by blueskinned men. She gets tossed into a cubicle and has a stinging mist sprayed on her. Then, she's tied down to a bed. In floats Kaihan, the Zapex prince. He examines her and ends up whipping the crap out of her. Then he sends in some of his Monrok warriors.

Cal and Kein are twin brothers and Monrok warriors. They were born human, but Kaihan and his scientists have taken them apart and put them back together with cybernetics and all kinds of stuff. Kaihan wants more Monrok, so he's decided that he's going to start harvesting Earth women and then breeding his own warriors. Cal and Kein are included in his experiment because they are twins and he wants to have more multiple births.

When Cal and Kein get to Ashley, they realize that they aren't going to be able to let her go, no matter what, and so they decide to step up the plans of the Monrok rebellion.

This is an intense story. It is dark-ish, which may bother some people, but I didn't think it was a problem at all. It's not all dark, just in spots. The love story is amazing and Cal and Kein are totally awesome. I'm planning on reading everything in this particular universe because they are awesome stories.

I love a good cyborg story and this really stands out with a very hot sci-fi ménage romance with two hard, seemingly cold, genetically engineered cyborg soldiers and a human female abducted to become their breeder. The overarching plot about the enslaved cyborg rebelling against their cruel royal creators carries through following books in this and another series.

While it isn't overwhelmingly dark, it does contain dark themes, including spanking, domination, and consent. Even then, Cal and Kein are thinking about Allyson's well being and safety--and how they will do anything to protect her. The two cyborgs have been biding their time, waiting until everything is in place to start their cyborg rebellion, but when the vile Zapex prince kidnaps these human women so they can breed the next generation of slaves to fight their wars, the twins know they are out of time. The heat factor is a scorching 5 out of 5.
Aubrey Cara did a brilliant job with Taking Their Human (Monrok Warriors, #1). I loved the development of the relationship between Allyson, Cal, and Klein.

"I'm certainly not in my bed."
Allyson wakes up and is in a place she is unfamiliar.

"My brother Kein and I have been chosen to Mate."
Cal, and his brother, Kein, are cybernetically enhanced slave who must mate with Allyson.

"She does not yet understand. There are no choices here in her new reality. You endure or you do not survive. But it is my goal not to damage her."
Kein own heart betrays him at his first meeting with Allyson.

"I'm not a zebra. I'm Allyson Eloise Henricks. No," she turns her blurry gaze to me. "I'm Allyson of Cal and Kein."
Affection blooms between the three of them.

What do Cal, Allyson, and Kein need to do to stay together?

I adored Aubrey's book and look forward to Keeping Their Human (Monrok Warriors #2).
It was too short for the complexity of the storyline to really develop the trust a true BDSM relationship would need for an HEA. There really is a lot of hitting going on in this book and I don’t agree that that form of abuse is pleasurable.

There is rape in this book, which is not at all disclosed to the purchaser, so be advised now. Granted none of the parties involved are truly consenting as they are all slaves in one way or another. Still, as rape goes it was a gentler form of it. Smh

Minor grammatical errors throughout the story but nothing serious. Having voiced my personal dislike for this kind of romance it was more erotica and sci-fi than anything else and it has the potential to be interesting. I do like multiple partners in one relationship. But this is not really a reverse harem situation. It’s more a ménage.

The characters were likable for the most part. While the female lead was annoying with all the crying it was understandable given the circumstances. I liked that the male leads were twins and very bonded to each other. As I said before this book has potential and I would have liked it better if it had been fleshed out ALOT more.

I will continue with the series and see where it goes.

Allyson Hendricks is a nobody, just a waitress taken from the middle of nowhere, Iowa, and she finds herself in a horrifying position on an alien ship, taken prisoner by nasty blue Zapex aliens. She is given by the prince to two Monrok warriors, Cal and Kein, to use in order to breed new offspring to serve as slaves for the Zapex prince to use. When Allyson sees these warriors, she realizes they are identical twins, equally huge and intimidating. Their couplings are very intense and hot, not only because they are both so very attracted to her, but because there is also something brewing amongst the Monrok, who are actually human and transformed by cybernetics to become the ultimate warriors, and time is of essence for their immediate plans. Lots of entertaining action and steamy-hot sex as their world continues to become unraveled around them.
